Happy Fairtrade fortnight!

Come one, come all!  We have a great event lined up this Friday as a part of Fairtrade Fortnight here in Clonakilty.  We have two Fairtrade cocoa growers coming to visit from Nicaragua and together we wil be hosting a talk and tasting about how to make chocolate, from tree to bar!  It’s on at 7pm this Friday 3rd March at the Emmet Hotel Clonakilty.    You can purchase your tickets (only 5 euro) here and includes your favorite bar of our chocolate.

This time each year we take two weeks to spend extra time to chat about what we do, and the ethics behind it.  We source our beans from Kuapa Kokoo a Fairtrade cooperative in West Africa whose work has enabled many small communities and groups of farmers to develop, both in financial, community and sustainable terms.  Schools, water sanitation and new industries are some of the most common tangible impacts of the Fairtrade premium, and empowerment, pride and independence are the impacts that aren’t so easily charted.  We will be visiting schools in West Cork and hosting small groups to come and have a look in our workshop.  If you would like to come and take a sneak peek into our micro-factory, just get in touch.
