We are delightedfairtrade1 to  have had another sunny Fairtrade fortnight here in Clonakilty!  Fairtrade Fortnight runs the last two weeks in February each year with the goal to educate and promote the importance of Fairtrade purchases to consumers & shop owners.  As you probably know Fairtrade affects farmers in developing countries by ensuring they are paid a fair wage as well as a Fairtrade premium which is paid into a community fund which a local board controls the use of, often choosing to build schools, sanitation facilities or grow other local economies.

Our first event was to have an open day here at the chocolate factory and we welcomed some lovely students and locals to show them how we make our chocolate from the bean!

We were also delighted to welcome Omar, a Fairtrade Honduras coffee grower and visit a local school together to talk Fairtrade with the students.   Last but not least we helped throw a Fairtrade cultural brunch – if you missed our chocolate fountain it will make an appearance same time next time!

Next up is Easter – and all web orders over 50 Efairtrade2uros placed before Easter Monday will receive a free medium bunny!!

That’s all for now – all the best from Allison & the Clon Choc Team!
